Brits shy away from professional advice
(06 February 2006)

Many Britons are reluctant to seek the help of a professional when it comes to money matters, according to the findings of new research.

Alliance & Leicester found that less than one in three people would turn to an expert for help, preferring instead to turn to someone they knew or even looking for advice online.

While this may save some people from an embarrassing encounter with a professional advisor, it can be of no benefit to managing your finances, which could go some way to explaining why so many people find themselves out of pocket each month.

Lindsey Henson, investment and protection product manager at Alliance & Leicester, commented: "It's natural that people should turn to those closest to them for general advice on life, however it is concerning that they are not turning to the experts for more serious matters such as health and major financial decisions.

"When it comes to our finances, whilst a chat with our partners can help vent any worries and explore our plans, it cannot compare with a structured discussion with a qualified financial adviser."

If Brits were a bit braver in seeking help from the experts, they could stumble upon beneficial services such as a payday loan, something perhaps their family and friends might not be aware of themselves.

Payday loans can be the perfect way to keep your financial situation healthy until your next pay cheque comes in and means you have the peace of mind of not having to lean on loved ones for support.
