Cash advances provide room for festive originality
(28 November 2005)
The nation's over-50s have got the hump, with the majority lamenting that they receive the same kinds of Christmas gift each year and if you fancy breaking the monotony for some of your loved ones this year, a payday loan might allow you extra leeway and provide room for creativity.
Saga Home Insurance has shown that 60 per cent of over-50s admit to receiving an identical range of presents each year most commonly items such as candles, slippers and socks.
More shockingly, two-thirds admit that they feel compelled to feign delight upon each bathetic ripping-open of the wrapping paper, with 85 per cent pointing out that they enjoy hobbies and special interests which could better inspire gift-giving.
Andy Goodsell, Saga's chief executive, commented: "Many of today's over 50s are seeking out a more active and challenging lifestyle, but younger members of the family are slow to catch on.
"Regardless of their age, everyone appreciates a present which is personal to them and their interests. Why not try Salsa lessons instead of slippers, for example?"
Men are more likely to be subjected to the same old rituals, according to the survey with 71 per cent likely to receive the same presents every year as opposed to 57 per cent of women.
Want to show a bit more imagination when buying for parents, or grandparents this year? A short term loan could widen your options as you search for the ultimate original gift.
