Men hide purchases from partners
(23 February 2006)
Men cunningly hide £864 million-worth of purchases each year from their unsuspecting other halves, according to a study from Norwich Union.
Male "liar-buyers" would appear to be infiltrating many a household near you, as the average man makes £336-worth of secret purchases each year compared with the relatively tame £227 smuggled by the typical member of the fairer sex.
As well as the usual vices of gadgets and sports equipment, 53 per cent of these deceptive males admitted that designer clothing ranks prominently in the roll-call of concealed purchases.
They're under no illusions as to what exactly would unleash hell in the women in their lives, though 34 per cent said that they made the purchases secretly as their partners would deem them to be too expensive.
Rebecca Holmes from Norwich Union commented: "Our research shows that the tables have turned. Men have always accused women of spending too much money on shopping, but now its the men who are hiding their expensive shopping."
If you're short on cash this month but can't resist indulging in that extra something for yourself, why not come clean and take out a payday loan?
It's repayable when your next paycheque comes through, so it will not be unaffordable or a long-term burden and with a borrowable sum of between £80 and £1,000 you might just be able to assuage your partner's wrath by buying them something, too!
