Online banking is en vogue
(02 March 2006)

Brits are taking to online banking warmly, according to a survey by Alliance & Leicester.

It showed that 59 per cent of us now perform most of our banking online, while 61 per cent admit to having considerably stepped up their use of internet account services over the past two years.

Since 2003 there has been a 63 per cent increase in the online management of current accounts, with checking balances and transferring money proving the most popular services.

Of those surveyed, 74 per cent found internet banking more convenient than using a land-based branch – but it seems that the conventional bank is far from dead and that they are still enduringly useful for the more complex financial tasks which crop up.

Andy Muddimer, Alliance & Leicester's head of internet banking, commented: "The pressures of modern life mean that internet banking is the best option for many UK banking customers.

"As we see the internet become increasingly important in other aspects of our daily lives, from reading the news, booking a holiday or simply making a purchase we would otherwise not have the time to do, then we can expect internet banking to become even more popular as the key way of managing our finances."

With nearly a third of us banking online at least once or twice a week, it's clear that we're entering a new era of financial management. This also means that, when you take out a payday loan, it may be far more readily accessible to you when accessing your account over the internet.

When you take out a short term loan of between £80 and £1,000, it'll be in your account within 24 hours – and online bankers able to see all this happen from the comfort of your living room or study, being able to plot what to do with it, or use it to make planned online purchases, right away.
