Payday loan could assist wedding attendance
(23 November 2005)
Britons spend a monumental amount on attending other people's weddings, according to a survey and if you're due to play a part in someone's big day soon, a short term loan could ease the pressure that comes with choosing the right gifts and travel plans.
Morgan Stanley claims that over a quarter of us will have attended a wedding this year, and shelled out a total of £4.4 billion into the bargain. That is an average spend of £292 per attendee on gifts, accommodation, appropriate clothes and other trappings.
Gifts typically take up £87 of this figure, while new outfits come to £61 and issues of travel and accommodation take £71 to resolve. Men take their spending for the day far more seriously than women, it seemed shelling out 75 per cent more than the fairer sex, though spending £10 less on outfits.
Patrick Muir, Morgan Stanley credit card marketing director, said: "Weddings have predominately been thought of as a costly business for the bride and groom. However, our research shows that it is not only the happy couple that will be spending on their cards."
You need not lump the day's expenses on a card, though a cash advance could do the work for you in the short term and would leave you with a far smaller hangover than you'll experience after the wedding reception.
