Pets' presents costing millions
(12 December 2005)

The cost of Christmas just keeps rising – Brits will spend a total of £400 million on presents for their pets this year.

What's more, the figures from Halifax Pet Insurance state that almost half a million pet owners will spend over £100 on presents for their cat, dog, rabbit, gerbil, macaw or other pet of choice.

Even more startlingly, a further 67,164 pet owners admitted that they will spend over £1,000 on their animals, although the average UK pet will receive a more humble – but not inconsiderable - £35 worth of goodies.

Frances Wright of Halifax Pet Insurance said: "Britons' love affair with their pets is clearly demonstrated by the number of owners that are planning to play 'Santa Paws' this Christmas season."

While this is true, it goes to help highlight that we're stretching ourselves ever further at Christmas time. A payday loan can make things a bit easier if you've already spent a lot of your latest wedge on expensive gifts and festive goodies – you can pay it back upon your next payday, along with no more than £25 for every £100 borrowed.

A short term loan of between £80 and £1,000 should keep your pet sated, and hopefully leave you room for a little more festive indulgence without having to exceed your credit card limit or eat into your overdraft.
